This master's thesis examines the changes adopted during the 2020-2024 term of the Seimas that could have influenced media freedom. Using the theoretical approach of Van Cuilenburg and McQuail, which suggests looking at the conditions of media freedom through the perspective of the political, economic, and social environments necessary for the media, 12 media laws from 2020-2024 were analyzed using the document analysis method. The data obtained is compared with the results of the Media Freedom Index published by Reporters Without Borders. The aim of the study is to answer the question of how the decisions adopted and registered in the field of media policy during the 2020-2024 term of the Seimas influenced media independence.
