Master‘s thesis study the role of a coach in educating athlete‘s body image. Body image – it is perceived how we see our body in subconscious. Body image is considered as an important precondition for self-evaluation and mental health at all stages of life. The athlete's body image may vary depending on athlete's gender, sport type, mastership, motivation, coach personality, behavior, and communication particularity. The study included 180 adolescent boys and girls from different sport types. The participants in the study were selected using non-probabilistic and targeted screening methods. Study object. The athlete's body image and opinion on education Study aim. Determine the role of trainer in educating athlete's body image. Objectives: 1. From a theoretical perspective analyze the concept of an athlete's body image and it's corelation with coach behavior and communication particularities. 2. Compare athlete’s body image by the gender. 3. Analyze athlete’s body image by sport type. 4. Compare athlete’s body image by athlete’s mastership. 5. Investigate the relationship between coach behavioral and athlete’s body image. Taking into account the purpose and tasks of the study, a literature analysis, questionnaire and statistical analysis of the data: factor and descriptive statistical methods, Mann – Whitney and Kruskall – Wallis tests were performed. Research data revealed that both boys and girls have a problematic body image. The more positive image of the body has elite athletes. Athletes who receive a positive body assessment from the coach, tend to better assess their own body. Similary, if coach critices athletes body image, athletes tend to have a negative body image. |
