Peculiarities of Bailiffs External and Internal Images, Gintarė Rinkevičiūtė, Vilnius, Vilnius University, 2018, 83 p. The positive image of the various law enforcement institutions is important both for the institutions themselves and for the public, however, little is known about the image of bailiffs. The aim of this paper was to study the external (public representatives of different age groups) and internal (bailiffs) bailiffs’ image. This research study examined the nature of the bailiffs’ image perceived by the external groups and bailiffs, similarities and differences between these groups and the relations between these groups’ social and demographic characteristics and certain aspects of bailiffs’ image. The research study included 260 participants: 203 external groups’ representatives and 57 bailiffs. The Bailiffs’ image questionnaire was created for this research study. The results of research study indicated that external groups’ of different ages and bailiffs’ opinion was positive towards the environment, information, services and social aspects of bailiffs’ image. External groups of all age groups evaluated environmental, information, services and social aspects of the bailiffs’ image less favorably than bailiffs themselves. External groups of different social and demographic characteristics had the most positive opinion about the information, less positive opinion about the environmental and services, and relatively the least positive opinion about the social aspect of bailiffs’ image. External groups’ opinion towards the bailiffs’ image was related to their place of residence, education, gained legal knowledge and study participants’ or their relatives’ / acquaintances’ previous contact with bailiffs. Bailiffs provided relatively the least positive opinion about the social aspect of bailiffs’ image, while the environmental, information and service aspects were evaluated in a similar way. Bailiffs’ opinion towards the bailiffs’ image is related to their workplace, age and bailiff’s work experience. The results of this research study may be useful to purposefully form positive bailiffs’ image. |
