Abstract [eng] This master thesis examines Yuri Lotman’s concept of boundary. This term is intended to be translated in to Algirdas Julius Greimas language of semiotics. The opportunity and achievement of such a task are shown: to reveal the initial elements of the boundary. The concept of boundary includes such compositions units as frame, space, plot, point of view, person and character. It is manifested as the paratopic space associated with qualification testing, the acquisition of competence and helper. Four distinct boundary units can be distinguished: a) the space in which the action takes place; b) the same act performed by the person; (c) the distinction and combination of things; d) the internal structure of the text, which consists of two types of narration. The analysis of these four boundary units allows to reveal the significance of movement in the literary discourse. Semiotic analysis of boundary is based on the analysis of four novels by Saulius Tomas Kondrotas. They are viewed through the newly thought-out concept of the boundary: new aspects of Kondrotas novels are revealed. The boundary acquires a specific figurative character and acts as an active element in the structure of the discourse. There is clear boundaries in the Kondrotas world without boundaries.
