The aim of the following paper is to analyze the role of the trickster in Kukučio baladės by Marcelijus Martinaitis. Before starting the analysis, it is important to define the concept of trickster that is considering in the studies of mythology, anthropology and literature. Therefore, in the first part of paper the notion of trickster is being determined by analyzing the works of Claude Lévi-Strauss and Paul Radin. Their studies link the notion of trickster with mythological thinking that is based on oppositions and mediation. In the second part of this paperwork the concept of trickster is being described by examining the works of analysts of literature. These authors treat the trickster as a liminal creature, a joker, a cheat, a rogue, etc. In the third part of this thesis the concept of trickster is explored based on the semiotic approach. Finally, in the last part of this paper is intended to analyze the role of the trickster in Kukučio baladės. |
