Abstract [eng] This work presents the design, simulation, and optimization of several antenna structures using ANSYS HFSS electromagnetic simulation software. Different antennas operating in the GHz frequency range were investigated, including a 2.4 GHz microstrip patch antenna, a 10 GHz inset-fed microstrip antenna, and a 1×2 corporate-fed microstrip antenna array. The antenna array demonstrated improved gain and directivity compared to the single-element antenna while maintaining a simple feeding structure. In addition, a Vivaldi antenna and an Antipodal Vivaldi antenna were designed and optimized for wideband applications. The Vivaldi antenna exhibited stable radiation characteristics and wide impedance bandwidth, while the Antipodal antenna achieved an even larger operating bandwidth from 2.5 GHz to 10 GHz with improved impedance matching. The obtained simulation results confirm that microstrip antennas are compact and efficient solutions for resonant-frequency applications, whereas Vivaldi and Antipodal antennas are more suitable for broadband systems due to their wide bandwidth and end-fire radiation behavior. This work also provided practical experience in antenna design, feeding techniques, antenna arrays, optimization methods, and electromagnetic simulation using ANSYS HFSS.
