The significance of study. The National Programme for the Development of Studies, Scientific Research and Experimental (Social and Cultural) Development for 2013–2022 claims that the society has to become active, unanimous and life long learning, what is more, each person is open to changes, responsible and creative. The laws claim that educational institution has to ensure that every student attending it knows where, when and how to get service of career education, vocational counseling. Carrying out the research it was essential to clarify if the content of issued documents is implemented properly, and how the declared service in issued documents reaches students. The object of the research. The process of implementing career edducation in gymnasium. The aim of the research. To reveal issues and expectations of career education service in gymnasium. Methods of research: Analysis of scientific research, vocational counseling both documents and laws on carer education; Both quantitative and qualitative research have been carried out; Descriptive statistical analysis of research data. The research sample and organisation. The research was carried out in October – December, 2018. The sample consists of five education specialists of five biggest municipalities in Marijampole county, five coordinators of career education working in gymnasiums as well as two hundred students of the fourth gymnasium class. The final data of the research reveal that the service of career education is provided in educational institutions. However, according to the opinion of respondents the service is not adequate to satisfy students‘ needs. The service of career education is not consistent, furthermore, career education specialists do no thave an opportunity to achieve quality in service provision since there is not adequate financial support. |
