Abstract [eng] The numerous psychological attributes have been investigated in relation to the athletes‘ emotional response to injury. However the association between emotional response to injury and mental skills in sport is not so clear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between injured athletes‘ emotional response to injury and mental skills in sport and also to compare emotional response of injured athletes versus non-injured athletes. Abbreviated Profile of Mood States (Grove & Prapavessis, 1992) and Sport Mental Skills Training Questionnaire (Behnke et al., 2017) were used to measure the investigated constructs. Injured athletes group (n=51) which consisted of athletes from various individual and team sports completed abbreviated POMS and SMSTQ while control group of various non-injured athletes (n=50) completed only abrreviated POMS. Significant differences were found when injured athletes‘ scores of negative emotions, positive emotions and total mood disturbance were compared with the scores of the control group. Injured athletes had significantly lower levels of positive emotions, higher levels of negative emotions and total mood disturbance. Other results indicated that mental skills in sport had no significant relationship with negative emotional response while interpersonal skills and foundation skills were significantly correlated with positive emotions scores.
