Abstract [eng] Information technologies (IT) – a constantly growing phenomenon we face almost daily. Parents and their children are no exception. The main goal of this study is to analyze the connection between preschoolers’ use of IT, their parents’ both subjective well–being and happiness and how last two are related to parents letting/suggesting children to use IT. The questionnaire was administered to 951 preschoolers’ parents reporting on situations of letting/suggesting children to use IT, parents’ both subjective well–being and happiness, their spouses’/partners’ subjective well–being, preschoolers’ use of IT (time spent) and demographical data (education, age and living area). This study uses the data from the first stage (2017 01 – 2018 01) of Welfare society project “Modern information technologies and children health” (project’s research adviser Roma Jusienė), which is financed by Lithuanian education council. Results show that the better parents’ both well–being and happiness, the less their children use IT and parents themselves were less suggesting/letting children use IT. This finding lets us look at the preschoolers’ use of IT as a more complex phenomenon and lets us understand the importance of parents’ role in children lives.
