During recent years many important changes have appeared while renewing education system at all levels: from pre-school education to higher education. While implementing education reforms, the situation in the sector of general education schools also changes. Every year expectations for educational institutions and requirements for the heads of educational institutions are increasing. Today the activities and requirements for the head of educational institutions have changed fundamentally. The heads act following the standards of activities. At institutional segment evaluation of head’s activities is important while pursuing to develop personal activities as a head-leader, improving the results of organisation’s activities, efficiency of learning programmes, developing and managing human resources, cherishing organisation’s image, improving pupils’ achievement results. Theoretical analysis of the problem revealed that despite the interest of scientists and researchers in the mentioned issue, the problem of evaluation of activities of the heads of educational institutions remains an acute question that causes discussions in education community. This presupposes scientific problem of the research – what situation, problems and foreseen development perspectives prevail in the evaluation of activities of the heads of educational institutions. The object of the research – evaluation of activities of heads of educational institutions. The aim of the research – to analyse current situation of evaluation of activities of heads of educational institutions and existing problems, to foresee possible development perspectives. The tasks of the research: 1. to get acquainted with education documents regulating activities of heads of educational institutions, the conception of activities of heads in scientific literature and information sources. 2. to perform secondary content analysis of the analysis of “Reports of Evaluation of Annual Activities of Heads of Educational Institutions” (2020) carried out by National Education Agency. 3. to analyse the opinions and personal management experiences of heads of educational institutions. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature and information sources; analysis of educational documents of the Republic of Lithuania; secondary content analysis; qualitative research – semi-structured interview (survey of heads of educational institutions). Qualitative analysis of research data. Conclusions: Having performed the evaluation of opinions and experiences of heads of educational institutions we may state that within the scope of our research (un)successful management activities were not detected. Every head’s experience is valuable. Primary and secondary analyses of reports of evaluation of annual activities of heads of educational institutions can be considered as guidelines on how to professionally prepare annual evaluation report of activities of heads of educational institutions referring to the recommendations presented by education experts and insights of novice education management specialists. |
