Abstract [eng] Relevance of the research. The practice of the coach working with athletes of varying skill in recent years changed, it became extremely multifaceted because the conditions of market economics dictate new challenges. In Lithuania, in the culture of small country, the situation is such that the specific requirements necessarily are raising for the coach. Therefore, this work will attempt to reveal aspects of the coach's work which bring benefits for athletic performance. Object of the research. The professional competence’s resolution of swimming coaches. Aim of the research. To estimate the professional practice’s resolution of swimming coaches according to their working methodology, principles and moral values. Methods of the research: analysis of the literature sources, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics. Methodology of the research: the methodological framework for the research consists of psychological, humanism, education, and development essential basics. 110 respondents from swimming schools of Kaunas, Šiauliai and Marijampolė cities have participated in the research. 44 swimming coaches and 63 athletes from groups of the different skill have interviewed. Results of the research: 1. From analysis of received data about scientific-methodical practice of coaches revealed that the coaches of National category tend not to self-improvement but orient on the transfer of experience for athletes. The coaches of sport category characterize by self-education, they give priority to scientific literature and practical scientific conferences. 2. Revealed that the best workout process is able to simulate the coaches of National category. The coaches of Lithuanian sport category try to affect the athletes with most intrinsic motivation and the coaches of sport category give priority to formation of athletes’ character and extrinsic motivation. 3. The youngest children who sports in groups of skill’s education most appreciate the coach and his talents. The weakest contact is between the coach and the high skill’s groups of athletes.
