Abstract [eng] Professional drama theatre in Lithuania formed only in the second decade of the 20th century; however theatrical achievements promote Lithuania far beyond its borders. Lithuania has creatively modern theatre directors from several generations, who‘s works distribute positive feedback in the famous Europe‘s drama theatre stages, great theater festivals, and within our country. Lithuanian professional drama theatre modernization process was partially stopped by the soviet occupation. Lithuania‘s theatres were not only unable to engage in free creation, but also had to encode their thoughts under the Aesopian language mask. In 1990, as the country regained independence, theatricals hurried to kick off the interference that had limited their creativity. Everything was changing: the country’s culture management policy, theatre policy, and attitude towards culture and art. It was as if Lithuania’s theatre started learning to stand on its feet all over again. It should be noted that, after the borders were opened, a lot of discussion was started about global processes that significantly influenced various areas (political financial, economic, cultural). Globalization is a phenomenon influencing the lives of various fields, nations, and communities. Lithuania drama theatre did not avoid the consequences of this phenomenon. Therefore the modernization became significantly faster than ever before. Globalization caused nor only positive, but also some negative consequences, that were firstly associated with the loss of national values, disappearance of national consciousness, and etc. However, as the country regained its independence and the global processes escalated, Lithuania drama theatre became creatively modern and innovative.
