In the master‘s thesis the major aims, goals and trends in implementing measures distinguished in strategic plans in large Lithuanian towns are being analysed. The strategic plans in educational system are made applying the methodology approved by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. These plans are created in organisations as the documents, which foreseen the most important aims, actions and measures which allow to reach the expected goals successfully. Strategic planning becomes the most relevant and the only measure to evaluate the current situation, predict possible risks, problems and develop the internal opportunities. The most important problems for schools become the assessment of their own institution and following mainstream trends while solving their development strategic questions. Moreover it is important to examine objectives, goals and the possible impact of measures applied on the quality of organisational actions to maintain high quality education. It’s essential to create the strategic plan to ensure efficient implementation of different reforms and while solving difficult problems. The object of study - Trends of strategic goals, objectives and measures in Progymnasiums based in large Lithuanian towns. The aim of the study - to analyse the Trends of strategic goals, objectives and measures in Progymnasiums based in large Lithuanian towns. The methods applied - there were examined the goals, objectives and measures of 71 Progymnasiums based in large Lithuanian towns. The data was collected making the selection of documents. The survey was carried out applying the content analysis method, as a qualitative research of the text’s characteristics in Progimnasiums strategic plans. The conclusion Applying the qualitative „content“method there were examined the goals, objectives and measures in strategic plans of Progymnasiums in large Lithuanian towns. The research showed that the biggest part of the aims in the field of activity in large Lithuanian Progymnasiums was related to the environment development. This includes different spheres such as providing students ‘books, IT devices, classrooms and labs redecoration and installation. It is important to notice that there are some fields, where the progress has been made for example: the understanding of the needs of students has increased and was taken into consideration, the new ways of education and lessons organisation were practiced, as well as the educational programme’s content development and improvement. The number of parents involved into educational process increased, the community bounds were strengthened, relationships among the colleagues and community members were improved, and that encouraged cooperation. The role of technologies became greater and new ways and methods in education have been applied. Not all of the schools manage to create the good quality strategic plans, which would adapt all the school’s community needs. It was noticed that the objectives of strategic plans weren’t unique; they didn’t reveal the identity of the schools and had many common features. Mainly, strategic plans look the same, prevail the same phrases, the same definitions. What is more, there was noticed the difference between the plans and the measures, the objectives didn’t match the goals. There was not enough attention paid to the distance learning and the importance of microclimate, innovative learning, and students’ individual skills development. It’s essential to create the strategic plan, so to make reorganisation in different spheres and to solve problems more efficiently. While analysing the of strategic plans‘ objectives and measures becomes clear that these plans have a huge impact on successful work of schools, set the priorities and the most urgent improvements to be made by the whole school community. |
