Abstract [eng] |
The article presents the results of the empirical research aimed to explore subjective evaluation of health and life quality of teachers in comprehensive schools in context of valeological culture. The research encompassed a questionnaire survey of comprehensive school teachers; in the initial stage research data were analysed employing methods of descriptive statistics, in another stage, seeking to evaluate statistical significance of obtained differences, non-parametric statistical criteria (χ2) were applied. Research results demonstrate that the majority of teachers perceive health as an important element of life quality and are convinced that the very person has to maintain and look after it; however, part of respondents do not treat health as a social value: they insufficiently critically view the influence of unhealthy habits and low physical activity on health. In addition, the respondents distinguished key health risk factors: nervous strain, stress and unfavourable hygienic conditions (noise, cold and poorly lit classrooms, furniture that does not correspond to requirements of ergonomics). Such results show that teachers should not only acquire knowledge of health preservation and enhancement, but also form healthy lifestyle skills, perceive the importance of valeological culture in the teacher's professional activities. |
