Abstract [eng] The research was carried out in 2012 at "X" children day care centres in order to find out about social skills developed there by using art activities. A quantitative research was carried out by using a questionnaire. 15 social workers and 83 children participated in the questionnaire survey. A social risk family is the consequence of negative behaviour of parents, which does not ensure the safety and development of children and inability of children to express their feelings and needs. Children in such families do not have adequate social skills. The empirical research shows that art activities organized at children day care centres have a positive impact on children's social skills, they help to meet their needs for cognition, education, self-expression, end ingenuity. At art classes children from social risk families realize their potential, diligently do the assignments, develop their creativity, improve themselves, and learn new art techniques.
