Abstract [eng] |
As the market society surges toward its firm establishment, a shift in the way researchers approach culture can be observed. Culture is no longer reigned by artistic inspiration, it is no longer protected from contamination by the selfishness and greediness of the market. A closer look at the contemporary culture reveals that all the artists and audiences with the negative attitude towards the market, at the same time depend and rely on it: it is because of the market that it is possible to experience culture in the first place. The market creates new cultural experiences and possibilities of artistic expression, it opens up new niches for experimental art. It facilitates the birth of a new creative and intellectual consumer class, which prefers to be confronted with more refined, provocative, and innovative works of art. Such a phenomenon stimulates the active contemporary art collection, and contributes to the cult of novelty and exceptionality. |
