Abstract [eng] The article presents the research whose results revealed the experience of parents bringing up pre-school children with emotional and behavioral difficulties. The observed emotional and behavioral difficulties, the applied strategies for controlling children’s behavior and the need for help and the purposefulness of the requested help are analyzed. 70 parents of pre-school children with emotional and behavioral difficulties from different places participated in this research. For data processing, qualitative-interpretative and statistical methods of data analysis were used: descriptive statistics, factor analysis and a parametric T-test. It appeared that preschool children with emotional and behavioral difficulties usually manifest poor personal self-control, chaotic, uneven activities and lack of attention. Social and emotional difficulties are rarely recognized. The strategies used by parents for controlling children’s behavior that are orientated towards the construction of positive interactions with the child are various and non-traditional: positive reinforcement, display and promotion of alternative socially acceptable behavior, therapeutic activities as well as elements of integrated behavior management system. The suitable surroundings are applied. Parents usually have difficulties because of the peculiarity of the child, i.e. why the need for educational assistance from the teachers and other staff working in the kindergarten, more effective ways of sharing information as well as individualisation and differentiation of the training process is mostly expressed.
