Abstract [eng] The article discusses the concept of bullying at school and its forms of expression, gives bully initiator’s and victim’s characteristics, reveals the causes of such behaviour as well as its induced effects. The aim of the study is to analyze the phenomenon of bullying among pupils in mainstream schools. Bullying at school arises due to various reasons. It may be related to the child’s personal differences, his/her family members’ physical or mental incapacity (or family members’ predisposition to addiction). The emergence of bullying is also associated with lack of social skills, parenting techniques, lack of positive feelings, violence in the family or the child’s own temperament. Quite important causes of bullying and aggression are peer rejection, insecurity or loneliness experienced at school, bullying by teachers. Due to continuously experienced bullying children suffer psychosomatic ailments, get infectious diseases, feel sadness, guilt, loneliness, helplessness and insecurity. Bullying experience leads to reduction of self-esteem, learning motivation loss, while depression and suicide risks increase. Offenders experience peer rejection, have learning difficulties and depressive feelings. Both bullies and victims have suicidal thoughts; their tendency to bad habits grows.
