Abstract [eng] Absorption rates were highest in 2011 - 3 463.5 million Lt (i.e. 113.91 million Lt more than in 2010). SMBs absorbed 1 827.26 million Lt (7.8% of all the EU support). In 2007-2012 the total amount of absorbed support by SMBs was 4 times bigger than in 2004-2006, however, it made up only 7.82% of all support. Research results showed that the biggest part of absorbed funds was invested not in business activities but in social, economic, physical infrastructure in general. The results of correlation regression analysis showed that EU support absorbed by SMBs had little impact on the country’s economic development and the added value created by SMBs. That leads to the conclusion that EU support did not facilitate the country’s economic development because effective use of support absorption depends on the business environment.
