Abstract [eng] The article analyses the problem of development of speaking skills of school-age children with mild mental disorders. The subject of the research: development of speaking skills of pupils with mild mental disorders on the basis of the non-fiction reading text. The hypothesis: pupils with mild mental disorders will develop their speaking skills more actively if the methods of learning while collaborating are combined with the playing methods. The aim of the research: to show the impact of collaboration-based learning on the development of speaking skills of pupils with mild mental disorders. The methods of the research: the impact of collaboration-based learning on the development of speaking skills of pupils with mild mental disorders is assessed using the developmental experiment method. By using the interview method, the viewpoints of pupils with mild mental disorders towards their speaking skills and the impact of collaborationbased learning are shown. Based on the method of a questionnaire survey, the viewpoints of pupils with mild mental disorders on collaboration-based learning are found out. The respondents and scope of the research: 8 (4 girls and 4 boys) pupils of 13 to 14 years old from a special school, Form 7, were selected for the qualitative research.
