They are in a state of defence and psychological confrontation (it's not a conflict but rather a revelation of their peculiarities). The state of defence contributes to the growth of personality, increases its autonomy arid integrity (Grakauskaitė-Karkockienė). The activity of consciousness, inspiration and the elevation of thought, creative excitement and flair are necessary for creation. Self-discipline, self-possession, great intellect, self-dependence were characteristic of Vydūnas; he constantly collected material for his philosophical works and dramas; he was interested in history, in the fate of people and nation; he appreciated various activity of people. Vydūnas as a public leader aimed to rally his countrymen who felt the danger of disappearing nation, who needed hope and optimism in the presence of uncertainty and loss caused by the Germanization. Vydūnas, as the public man and cultural worker of his period, laid future roads for people of his communities, looked for ways (through education and choral culture) to preserve their national identity. His consciousness was oriented to raise the honour of Lithuanianism, to show the value, originality and attractiveness of Lithuanian culture. The family of Vydūnas – cultural representatives and leaders of the country – assimilated and disseminated the progress of civilization of that time and Baltic cultural values. [...]. |
