Abstract [eng] The aim of this article is to characterize the process of clarification of homogeneous classes necessary for this investigation by using diagnostic tests in mathematics. The research methods are analysis of literature on common requirements for constructing of diagnostic tests in mathematics; construction, analysis, and interpretation of a diagnostic test for the 4th grade pupils; clarification of homogeneous classes on the basis on testing results. The article reviews the principles of selection of the groups of homogeneous classes by using the test of mathematical skills. The statistical characteristics of quality of the diagnostic test are discussed: normality, average, standard deviation, difficulty, correlation etc. The homogeneity of control and experimental classes is substantiated by ANOVA and DUNKAN methods.
