Abstract [eng] Looking for opportunities to introduce innovative study methods, Northern Lithuania College organized a trial placement for students of management and economics study programs. In order to evaluate what components of the WIL method were successfully applied and what components should be improved, expectations of students of Financial Institutions Economics before the trial placement were assessed and placement organization process was researched by using a questionnaire survey method, focusing on the following: pre-placement organization, relevance and usefulness of tasks for placement, practical training course, placement assessment, placement document usefulness, benefits received during the placement, mentor and tutor guidance. The research revealed that students identified mentor assistance in preparing necessary documentation as the best aspect; the agreement on the assessment procedure was evaluated the worst. Most respondents agreed that performing of the placement task that was know in advance, agreed on with the mentor and the tutor, useful for the company, and having practical application led to successful use of knowledge acquired during their studies, the placement task was interesting and meaningful.
