Abstract [eng] Centre of Quality Assessment in Higher Education encourages the scientists’ community and society to discuss quality of studies. The research deals with a concrete study programme – special education. It is being assessed in the aspect of correspondence of abilities developed according to the modules of the study programme to The Description of the Teacher’s Professional Competence and with regard to students’ opinion about competencies being developed in the study programme, differentiating students’ opinion according to gender and academic achievements. The research employed methods of literature analysis, document analysis, content analysis, descriptive mathematical statistics and non-parametric tests. Qualitative research aimed to identify how the abilities formed in the study programme of special education cohere with the abilities in The Description of the Teacher’s Professional Competence. The quantitative research aimed to identify how prospective special educators assess their professional competences obtained in the study process.
