Abstract [eng] |
Under the influence of the processes of globalization as well as socio- economic factors the issues of migration in the world and in Lithuania inevitably become relevant. Together with adults, school- age children migrate as well, therefore it is no longer enough to talk only about the socio- economic factors resulting in immigration or emigration. Integration of children with different experiences of (self)education into Lithuanian schools and teachers’ ability to create favourable pedagogical conditions for cross-cultural understanding, security and development of identity and intercultural dialogue in the classroom present an obvious problem. Teachers face new challenges which are intended to serve as a basis for creating favourable conditions for effective and empowering education of different pupils in the class. Attention is brought to significance of cross-cultural understanding in the classroom with different socio- educational experiences. However, there is a problem that theoretically we understand the competence of cross-cultural understanding and its applicability, but in practice it remains the matter of each teacher’s professionalism and experience. With reference to the Typology of Ethnic Identity by Banks and Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity by Milton Bennett, this article analyses theoretical assumptions of intercultural understanding and identifies conflicts the proposed solution of which is hermeneutic pedagogy approaches for construction of intercultural (self)education. |
