Abstract [eng] The process of globalisation involves more and more areas of human existence, including the system of education. One of the most important objectives of the XX I century education is the quality of education, where special attention is paid to ensuring the (self)education quality by analysis and assessment of changes occurring in the system of education. It is obvious that the tendencies of internationalisation of a system of education, the context of nowadays European education dimensions presuppose the necessity for changes in educational activities and the quality thereof. Quality becomes the responsibility and concern of each member of an organisation, efficiently involving learners into the process of continuous improvement. The research was performed in the pre-school education institutions of Šiauliai City. 105 pedagogues were surveyed. The study identified factors that are important for the quality of education: creation of an educational environment in which children are safe psychologically and physically, continuous development of teachers, group climate, understanding of peculiarities of the life stages of children, individual work with children, and focused and efficient organization of the process of education. The obstacles to quality education have been revealed: too many children in one group, time- consuming filling of various documents, financial difficulties: lack of educational materials, small salary, slow introduction of innovations to the process of education, inadequate cooperation of personnel of pre-school institutions.
