Analyses of snow melt water and rain run-off water from the town’s main streets and from uncontrolled water feeds were carried out. We analyzed: pH, suspended solids concentration and volume of oil products. Water pollution in the uncontrolled water feeds was the same as pollution in controlled water feeds, and suspended solids in snow melt water and rain run-off water from the streets exceeded the maximum instantaneous concentration. Most sediments occur in rain run‑off water. Run-off water pH ranged from slightly acidic to slightly alkaline. All the rain run-off water in the feeds was slightly alkaline. To reduce surface run-off water volumes and pollution levels, we propose to install run-off water infiltration systems in estates of private residential houses. |
