Abstract [eng] The concept of creativity is differently interpreted by the representatives of various branches of science. Most frquently this concept is defined as the ability to present new ideas, to think in a non-stereotyped way, to be able to cope with problem situations; in addition it is defined as the ability to achieve new results of the activity. Less popular approach is when the creativity is identified as a prerequisite to forming positive self-evaluation and to promoting positive spiritual development of an individual. Art therapies are closely related to the latter conception, they are perceived as the means for recovering internal harmony of the person. The main aims of pedagogical art therapy are development and socialization of a person. However, this realm of educational opportunities is little known in Lithuania, therefore the opportunities of art therapy methods in order to achieve the above-mentioned aims are not fully used. The aim of the research is to evaluate the educational potential of pedagogical art therapies for the development of creativity as expression of inner harmony, and the socialization of preschool children. The methods of theoretical literature analysis and generalization enabled us to find out the peculiarities of the development of creativity in preschool age; the kinds of art therapy which are suitable for the work with preschool children have been distinguished. This helped to shape the programme of pedagogical experiment and to provide the principles of its realization. The aim of the experimental education programme (the main objective of the research) was to expand a child’s cognitive and creative skills, to create environment that would have positive impact on the development of the child’s personality, creativity and socialization.[...].
