Abstract [eng] Altenbeg’s attempts of the great genre reduction are emphasised in the article based upon his life reform programme, his theory of the extracts and the extracts from the collection As I See, miniature cycles “The Lake Shore” and “Pauline”. These attempts had to reform the conception of a novel as a genre by disassociating from naturalistic and positivistic world-view, reflecting the outer world of crummy actions. Any everyday experience is relieved from the unnecessary novel ballast, from stenography of logical reason and outcomes chain, by concentrating attention on the communication of suddenly broken instantaneous flash of soul, and also visually concentrating in the text the lacunas of silence. According to Altenberg, the reduction of the novel speaking would have outer perspective to change the opening sensitive soul vibration by opening the inner world, but not the moment of their relaxing. This conversion is symbolically impersonated in the form of a silent woman, who is also open to the nature and who together with a poet is able to reflect upon a woman’s experience adequately.
