Abstract [eng] |
Nowadays children face many stressors: anxiety about the relationship in both economically and psychologically unstable families, in the market-based environment interactions where general competition is escalated, excessive consumer needs, arising psychological and physical violence. It seems likely that stress-determining phenomena increase and intensify in the context of globalization, therefore it becomes very important to search for ways to cope with stress. Being able to cope with stress means that a person is able to solve his/her problems. Ability to solve problems is related to creativity by many authors. The aim of our research is to theoretically substantiate and empirically defi ne stress handling and creativity relationships during adolescence (age 13-15). 107 subjects from Kuršėnai Pavenčiai Secondary School participated in the research. Adolescence is related to specifi c behaviour and this period has its typical attitudes, roles, and confl icts. Some people quickly adapt their behaviour to the traditional and nearest environment standards, while others stay critical and see more problems everywhere. Many scientists relate solving problems to creativity. Different thinking is one of the cognitive components of creativity and parameters of different thinking are thinking fl uency, fl exibility and originality. It is typical of teenagers having an active imagination and a fantasy which help them to overcome crisis and cope with stressors. It was found that while in stress “active handling” strategy is most natural for teenagers. Furthermore, it was determined that averages of girls’ stress overcoming strategies are higher than those of boys. It emerged that the average level of creativity is natural to teenagers. Girls have higher level of creativity than boys. The hypothesis was partly confi rmed, it emerged that stress handling strategies are signifi cantly related to creativity. |
