Abstract [eng] Sociality as feature of personality consists of abilities to communicate easily, to be friendly, and to help in care about common activities and matters of everybody, to take part in useful for society activities, etc. Sociality is a result of moral- social education in families and at school. Today education theory and practice recognize that development of social competencies is one of the most important aims of modern education. Teenagers and youth from group of the risk very often have insufficiently manifested social skills. In this article the peculiarities of social skills of youth are analyzed in gender aspect. Analysis of manifestation of social skills of youth was carried out in three departments of Šiauliai Vocational Education Centre. The research was conducted on the basis of Šiauliai University Women’s Study Centre research “To Know More About Yourself And Others” (2005). The questionnaire was prepared which consisted of 4 parts: data about yourself, me and my family, me and my leisure time, problems, future aims; youth and drugs. The results have showed insufficient level of development of youth social skills. Therefore it is the reason of such social problems as drugs, lower quality of communication, weak social links in families, non-ability to solve daily life problems in adequate way, etc. The results and conclusions could be useful in looking for better ways of solving such problems as youth mental health, bad habits prevention, for shaping socially acceptable youth behaviour and for putting models of such behaviour into practice.
