Abstract [eng] The article deals with peculiarities of psycho- social adjustment of Physical Education speciality students. The most important psycho- social factor regulating the interaction between a personality and social environment is one’s lifestyle providing an opportunity for a personality to maximally implement one’s life projects. The aim of the research is to investigate peculiarities of psycho- social adjustment of 1st–4th year students of Physical Education speciality from the aspects of age and sex. The main method of the research is a questionnair e-based survey which made it possible to find out the problems of psycho- social adjustment of students going in for sports (the questionnaire on social- psychological adjustment worked out by K. Rodgers and R. Diamond, adapted by A. K. Osnicky). On the basis of analysis of theories explaining personality adjustment, we can state that the notion of adjustment has quite diverse meanings and changes depending on the context of its application. Mechanisms of complete adjustment most clearly manifest in an individual life- style, its change. The components of “self-assessment”, “emotional comfort” and “striving for dominance” were more significantly expressed by the 1st year students in comparison with senior students. It is more difficult for boys to adjust to social conditions than for girls. Girls express their attitude towards themselves and others more actively, they achieve the state of emotional comfort easier. It was estimated that strong and statistically reliable correlation links between students’ self-assessment and emotional comfort, self-assessment and striving for dominance, striving for dominance and falsity existed.
