Abstract [eng] The paper presents the results of the research “The Level of psychological, Special Educational and Special Support for the Mainstream School Students” commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Science in 2007. Various participants of the educational process – professionals working at school (speech therapists, special and social educators, psychologists, head teachers and deputy heads), parents and teachers – offered an assessment of the demand and the level of provision of special educational support. Empirical data was collected by using the method of a survey (N=722). The research outcomes revealed that special educational support (speech therapist’s and special educator’s) is most efficient in identifying, assessing special needs, and giving direct support for the child; however, the need to improve activities, very important for the inclusive education, such as professionals’ support for the family, partnership among the participants of the process of education, and the inclusion of the whole school community, is also expressed.
