Abstract [eng] The motif of stone in children’s literature by Kazys Saja is related with the parallel between a stone and an orphan traced in the folklore tradition. This parallel is especially evident in the writer’s early short stories for children, full of childhood experiences, authenticity of village of that period. In the new book by Saja ... Kurio nieks nemylėjo (Whom Nobody Loved) (2005), the parallel between a stone and an orphan is complemented with the motif of life and love. A stone becomes the symbol of a young man’s endurance test; and it is also a hopeful look forward to the future where the greatest miracle is the link with close people. A stone in this story is an element of the plot, a means of poetic expression. The story of the Lithuanian King of Stones Vaclovas Intas, Orvidai Place are also very significant for the readers from the cognitive point of view.
