Abstract [eng] |
This paper analyses digital technologies that promote motivation to learn to play a musical instrument. The aim of the research is to evaluate the possibilities of applying digital hardware and software in non-formal education lessons. The study involved 127 students of the non-formal education music programme in Šiauliai “Juventa” progymnasium. The analysis of the scientific literature revealed that the participation of parents, school friends and teachers, as well as the student's desire and willingness to learn and the perception of duty, are very important factors of the formation of learning motivation. Decreasing motivation due to the loss of one of these factors can be restored by the remaining factors. It is important for the student to perceive the whole environment as a system, rather than focusing on one aspect. IT is a rapidly evolving area that requires constant professional teacher reorientation. However, the lack of literature on this subject in the Lithuanian language (also due to rapid change), hinders the teachers’ adaptation to changing conditions. A great opportunity in this situation arises from technology that, while avoiding the language barrier, helps to exploit the potential of not only textual but also audio-visual material. It helps to diversify the pedagogical process that sometimes becomes routine and influences motivation to learn in the negative way. Empirical research confirms that of all IT tools, teachers mainly use computers. Students use IT to learn notes provided by the teacher, to look for musical pieces to practice independently, or to refine the details of a learned musical piece. Unfortunately, distance learning does not achieve the desired result, because this method of teaching is not a priority for students. IT can help students with learning difficulties or lack of motivation to learn, so teachers should be able to manage key IT functions in order to help students learn more easily, quickly and independently. The aim of encouraging students to write music using the possibilities of technology should be the collaboration between the teachers of music theory, computer science and musical instrument. |
