Abstract [eng] The aim of research was to investigate the effect of training methods on the result of getting over the route by young orienteers as well as intensity and consistency of movement. Fourteen 12-14-year-old boys – young orienteers – took part in the pedagogical experiment; they constituted the experimental (n-7) and the control (n-7) groups. Duration of the experiment was six weeks. Orienteering training was held three times a week in both groups (1-1,5 hrs each). Orienteers of the experimental group were running the orienteering route twice a week, during the main part of training (approx. 30 minutes), while using modified maps, and one time – the orienteering route with indicated direction and standard terrain maps. Orienteers of the control group were running the same orienteering routes three times a week, during the main part of training (approx. 20 minutes), while using standard terrain maps. Before and after the experiment, the investigated pupils got over the orienteering route with indicated direction in the same terrain (its length in air-route was 1,41 km, amount of control points was 5) with different location of the control points. The following individual indicators of the orienteers were registered: average speed of movement in the route, average relative heart rate, standard deviation of heart rate. It was found out that usage of modified terrain maps hadn’t any significant effect on indicators of competition performance of 12-14-year-old orienteers from the... [to full text].
