The purpose was to analyse, drawing on data of the field research of 2006-20 12, traditional Lithuanian images and conceptions of menstruation, the odour of menstrual blood. The paper is based on information drawn from 75 elderly females (min. age 70). A special questionnaire was designed and distributed by its authors. Obtained findings were similar to those of other researchers: participants were extremely unwilling to talk. The subject, compared to other taboo ones (e.g., menarche, menopause or casting a spell over males by menstrual blood) is especially taboo. Although various ladies' hygiene products are widely available and foul odour is deodorized this substance still causes some inconvenience.
