Abstract [eng] |
Writing drags the main character Jeronimas Jaras into the word of creation. Alcohol and sex scatter abstract reflections and give a possibility to live in a world of senses. A brownie transposes Jaras from Earth to a world of spirits: the modern subject, which in modern novels is thought of as a centre of the universe, turns into a drinking lecherous tramp and finally into silent spirit. It is stressed that like Western antinovels "Glison's Loop" has no universal code of reading, no project of meaning can be discovered in it. Abstract reflections and "main ideas" are changed into language that concentrates on creating images, actions, and bodily senses. "Glison's Loop" is called antitraditional and antimodern at the same time, communicative as much as a language itself (without any subject's given directions) can communicate. |
