Abstract [eng] The master's thesis raises an actual scientific problem, expressed in two problematic questions: (a) is there an interaction between the chosen type of sports education program and the motivation of young sportsmen?; (b) is there an interaction between the type of sport chosen and the motivation of young sportsmen? Research object: the motivation of young sportsmen. Research aim: To reveal the expression of motivation of young sportsmen in the aspects of sports education program and types of sports. Research methodology and methods. The research was based on two theories: self-determination (Deci, Ryan, 1985, 2000) and physical education. In order to realize the research idea and solve the set tasks, the following methods were used: theoretical analysis and generalization, questionnaire survey, mathematical and statistical methods (average, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correliation coefficient). The sport motivation scale was used for the questionnaire survey (Grajauskas, Razmaitė, 2017). Subjects. The research involved 648 young sportsmen from Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panėvežis and Joniškis sports education institutions. The age of the participants was 15–17 years old. According to the belonging to the sports education program, the participants are divided into three groups: 1) basic education together with sports education and secondary education together with sports education; 2) a sports education program supplementing formal education; 3) non-formal sport education program. According to the type of sport, the participants were divided into the following groups: 1) individual; 2) duel and 3) team. Main conclusions: The research found that the type of sports education program chosen by young sportsmen may be an important factor influencing motivation. Significant interaction (p <0.05) was found between the sport education program and the most types of motivation, except for amotivation and external motivation - identified regulation (p> 0.05). In all subscales of the sports motivation scale, the results were in the form of the letter U, where the scores of Basic education combined with sport education or secondary education together with sports education were the highest, and those of sport education supplementing formal education were the lowest. The study found a significant interaction (p <0.05) between the type of sport and the motivation of young sportsmen, except for lack of motivation and external motivation – identified regulation (p> 0.05). It should be noted that in most sport motivation subscales, the results were in the form of an inverted U letter, where the motivation of sportsmen in dueling sports was the highest.
