The theoretical part of the Master Thesis titled Environmental Ethics. The Problem of Water Pollution presents an analysis of water pollution with respect to environmental ethics and artistic features. The researched problem is related to ecology and water pollution. An environmental approach towards protection of nature is shaped based on observations, works and facts determined by philosophers and scientists and pieces of art created by artists. A collection of paintings was prepared on the topic of Environmental Ethics. The Problem of Water Pollution accentuating corals as its main theme. The collection of paintings was titled Corals and it was formed by focusing on the problems of water pollution and principles of environmental ethics. The paintings were based on the theory of expressionism. The theoretical analysis was founded on the principles of environmental ethics, environmental philosophy and the ideas of philosophers Thoreau, V. Vyčinas, Č. Kalenda and A. Katalynas. The theoretic part is illustrated by works of artists specializing in land art. These masterpieces visually reflect environmental problems. The practical part of the paper is focused on presenting the brainstorming process, creative pursuits of plastics and colors in pieces of art and analysis of analogues. The artistic collection of paintings forges an association with the underwater world. Abstract style, spatial painting, light and depth are prevalent in the collection and aimed at expressing the chosen topic. Acrylic paint was used to create the collection. The Corals collection is comprised of eight paintings distinguished in terms of compositional solutions. The goal of the collection is to reveal as extensive color range as possible. The works are unique for the comprehensive technique of pour painting used to attain the sense of plastics. |
