Political party programmes usually emphasise the need for improving local self-government through the enactment of some fundamental changes, but studies and practice show that too little attention is directed towards realizing those changes to local self-government, declared in political party programmes. For this reason, the present Master’s Thesis aimed to determine what avenues for improving local self-government are specified by the political parties currently in power, what fundamental avenues for improving local self-government are being implemented, what issues arise during the process and what might the solutions to them be. The theoretical part of the thesis focused on analysing the scientific literature, in order to substantiate the improvement of local self-government in the context of the new public administration, and the interaction between political parties and local self-government. |
