Abstract [eng] |
This paper examines the condition of the diamond industry in Sierra Leone after the civil war and seeks to identify the interaction between key players and their actions, which fuel the protracted social conflict in the country. The theory of protracted social conflict by Edvard Azar is used in the thesis and with the help of the process tracking method attempts to identify a mechanism that contributes to the continuation of a protracted social conflict . According to the collected empirical data, the constructed mechanism is compared with the interaction mentioned in the theory, and it is sought to find out which actors are the cornerstones of the research case in the specific industry context. The thesis demonstrates that theory can be applied and refined within individual cases and industries. |
